Rushworth Stories

An interesting thing happened when I went storytelling at the Rushworth Branch Library. After telling a couple of stories including one that had been created at one of the other libraries, we started to create a Rushworth story.

Hamish Roberts volunteered and story was about him and his bike and riding in the Ironbark Forest.

Now that improvisation session was pretty wild. We got a bit carried away with the story. I recorded the story on my minidisc recorder, transcribed it and published it below.

I was delighted to find when I got back to Brisbane, however, that Hamish had gone home and created his own excellent version of the story and with the help of his sister did some illustrations as well. So I've published his version here as well.

I wonder if you can guess which one is which before you get to the end?

I wonder if anyone would like to create a story about a time you went riding in your local forest? What would you see there that would be different to what you might see at Rushworth? What might happen that would be different?

Happy reading,
Daryll
